Paying For Plastic Bags
From tomorrow in Wales you will be charged 5p for every single use plastic bag you use. It may be worth it for some, but I use my Waitrose shopping bags as bin liners, which then go straight in the wheelie bin. I do have a collection of large bags for shopping, but they are a pain to carry empty, as they all seem to be incapable of folding small enough to go in my manbag.
So the system may work, but it could be a lot better.
I have a great many fabric bags, I often buy them at charity stands at events. Some of them have a definite purpose – my Latin texts for my Latin class live in one, I can then just pick the bag up and go to class. Then I have the shopping ones. I put them in my boot, use them at the supermarket, unpack them at home. Put them in the basket on the front of my scooter, which is near the front door. Then keep forgetting to put them back in the boot. I rarely shop in the scooter.

Single use plastic are you sure about that.
Friday I went to my local chip shop only to be told the flimsy paper bag had a levy of 5p and all single use paper bags ie. Macdonalds etc had one.
There is ten times more paper in a newspaper and all paper bags are biodegradeable.
Seems like another scam to me,

To me, the ones I get from Waitrose are not single use. I tske them back to the shop and use them as bin liners. In fact, I haven’t bought any bin liners for some months, so I save money. As I said I always have one in my bag and use it for things I buy, like sandwiches. I then might ise it to collect my litter on the train. I probably get through four a week at most, but all have a second use and some a third and fourth one. When it’s wet, I use them to keep my newspaper dry.
