Bad News for Coeliacs
The report on the price of sugar is bad for coeliacs like me. What will happen is that more food will use wheat glucose instead of sugar, because it’s cheaper. Unfortunately, a lot of coeliacs can’t handle this and it makes them ill.
Interestingly, the EU says that wheat glucose is alright for coeliacs to eat, so products don’t have to say they contain gluten.
Well, here’s one who’s affected by wheat glucose (maltodextrin). I am not alone!
I didn’t realise that Maltodextrin is a wheat glucose! I have not yet worked out if i am allergic to it, since i find that most of my symptoms come from eating gluten…which sometimes has traces of wheat.
What do you think of the news about the high salt and sugar content in GF supplement foods?

I rarely eat GF pre-processed food.
What I tend to do is make my own and I find that I often eat things like meat with a fruit or sweet sauce. This is not too bad at all, as you actually do need to replace the carbohydrate and what better way than a small amount of demerara sugar!
But there really isn’t any excuse for salt. The trouble is that most people won’t eat food unless there is a lot of it.
I remember buying a Tesco meat pie with potato on the top. It was so salty it was inedible.
