Aquascutum has entered administration, as is reported here on the BBC today.
This is despite the publicity of Ed Milliband wearing one of their suits at his wedding last year. It must have been the colour!

What this blog will eventually be about I do not know.
But it will be about how I’m coping with the loss of my wife and son to cancer in recent years and how I manage with being a coeliac and recovering from a stroke. It will be about travel, sport, engineering, food, art, computers, large projects and London, that are some of the passions that fill my life.
And hopefully, it will get rid of the lonely times, from which I still suffer.

When my late father was inj the trade he knew a Mr Guard, a director of Aquascutum. Mr Guard’s wife was Yana, .perhaps the first of the single-named girl singers ( she had a fifties hit with “Climb up the garden wall”. When Yuri Gagarin visited London he was paraded around in an open-topped limo with the registration plate of YG 1. Mrs Guard was not best amused as it was hers!

I remember Yana. Somewhere in my past, I met a guy, who had press cuttings that said that she had had her appendix out more than once.
