A Trip On The Island Line » Performance Is Good

  1. In line with the class 230 units on the Bletchley to Bedford, will these new class 484 units have toilets, which would be a ‘new’ feature for Isle of Wight trains.
Also, I have read with interest, to assist in easing traffic congestion, various authorities wish to extend rail services on the Island to Newport & Ventnor, is this still an active option???

    • My personal opinion on toilets, is that they won’t be needed on a 24 minute journey, if bigger stations have them close! I would also think that they’ll need more capacity on the island and toilets cut seat numbers. The Bedord and Bletchley route doesn’t get as many visitors, so I think it will be in the statistics.
No idea about the extensions, but more Vivarail trains could be added to the fleet unless they are all sold. They can also be lengthened if needed. So if extension happens, the fleet can be augmented. I think going for Vivarail could enable extension, if required.
