Burnt Oak Station To Be Made Step Free
These pictures show Burnt Oak station.
I’d never been to Burnt Oak station before.
Because of the layout of the station with an island platform, that has a double staircase with space in between, I suspect this could be one of the easier stations to be made step-free.
What Are Transport for London’s Plans?
Transport for London have stated that their aim is to eventually have all Underground stations with full step-free access.
Searching the Internet, I found there is this page on the Brent Council web site, which gives details of the Burnt Oak and Colindale Regeneration Programme.
As 12,500 houses will be built under this programme, it is not surprising that Transport for London are improving Burnt Oak station.

Tfl should make all Northern line trains from the Edgware Branch to terminate at Clapham Junction Station via Charing Cross and all Northern line trains on the High Barnet Branch to terminate at Morden Station via Bank

They will be doing that after Camden Town station has been rebuilt. Unfortunately, the Mayor mismanaged the finances and Camden Town Rebuilding has been delayed. It wouldn’t have been delayed, if it was South of the River.

And make everyone who lives on either northern branch have to change at Camden to reach the City/CX branch?? No thanks. Anyway that’s not the plan – they do want to make the line easier to split in cases of signal failures etc but not to fully split the service.

The trouble is that the Mayor’s bribe of a fare freeze has meant that TfL is short of money and has had to delay the upgrade of Camden Town and Holborn stations. The major upgrade at Bank station will only make matters worse as more passengers will use the Northern Line to get to and from the City.
Crossrail will help as passengers might stay on their train and go to Tottenham Court Road or Moorgate and change to the new line.

I thought of the additional short spur Northern line Mill Hill East Station Branch of only having served or handle 4 tph. I thought of the idea that all Northern line trains from Mill Hill East Station Branch will terminate at Finchley Central Station on platform 1 as platform 1 will be used as a terminating platform for Northern line trains to and from the Mill Hill East Station Branch to terminate there and go back to Mill Hill East Station as all Northern line trains from the Mill Hill East Station Branch will not go any South of Finchley Central Station all the way to Morden Station via Bank Station or Clapham Junction Station via Charing Cross Station as passengers will change from the terminating platform 1 for all Northern line trains from Mill Hill East Station Branch to terminate there to Southbound Platform 3 for Northern line trains to Morden Station via Bank Station and Clapham Junction Station via Charing Cross Station . Tfl would put a buffer at the terminating platform 1.
Northern line proposed services in trains per hour:
12 tph between Morden and Edgware
Via Bank.
12 tph between Morden and High Barnet
Via Bank.
12 tph between Clapham Junction and Edgware Via Charing Cross.
12 tph between Clapham Junction and High Barnet Via Charing Cross.
4 tph between Finchley Central and
Mill Hill East Shuttle.
Finchley Central Station is 1 stop down the line from Mill Hill East Station.
