Carluccio’s Risotto is Now Gluten-Free
Carluccio’s new gluten free menu has this satatement.
Our risottos are gluten free. We serve a different one every
week, so please see our Specials Board or ask staff for details.
I had a serious and very good chicken and spinach risotto in their Spitalifields branch last night.
The only trouble with Carluccio’s, is that there aren’t enough of them.
As long as they arent always fish based, that is indeed good.
I have been visiting my adult daughter, who lives in Kent, and as a visiting gift I selected some items from the Carluccio shop in Trafford Centre, and they packaged them in a nice box for me at no extra cost. I am now a compulsive reader of labels even if they are for someone who isnt GF, and I was impressed that quite a few of their things are GF.

What were they putting in it before? I think I’d expect risotto to be GF – it’s what I rely on in Italian restaurants.

I had asked before and they said that it wasn’t gluten-free. I suspect that they work the principle that if we’re not sure, we’ll play safe. I have seen rissoto rice in packets, that wasn’t gluten-free and was labelled as such.
Carluccio’s used to sell a gluten-free sausage pasta, but then it stopped as they couldn’t get the gluten-free sausage. They told me, it came back, when they found another supplier.
I’d far rather someone tell me something has gluten in it when it doesn’t, so I have to have something else, than tell me something is gluten-free and then find it isn’t a few hours later.

Apparently, it’s always been gluten free and the ice cream is completely so, but the sorbets aren’t.
I’m going to Crewe for the football and will be going to Chester on Wedsnesday. So may have lunch in their caffe there!
