The Anonymous Widower

Why the Fuss About the Coles’ Divorce?

You want to try losing your wife after being together for forty years!

You have a choice about getting divorced, but being widowed is rarely you or your partner’s fault!

I really do object to the amount of time spent on the break-up of the marriage between two complete non-entities! Especially on Radio 5, this morning!

  1. I really object to the amount of time and space devoted to these people, I do not follow football, I do not particularly follow pop music, so I really dont know much about them, and care even less. So many of these people are famous for being famous! they havent done anything special

  2. It was always thus! Nelson wasn’t our greatest Admiral, but he had the beautiful mistress and got the publicity. Drake, Hawke and Cochrane were much better. Hawke’s victory at Quiberon Bay was a much more important victory than Trafalgar and Cochrane liberated much of South America from the Spanish and Portuguese and then Greece from Turkey. I always like the stories of Richard Grenville too! In recent times there is AB Cunningham of Taranto fame!

  3. Perhaps it is a British thing. I remember hearing all about Dunkirk from my parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles etc. hence I was very suprised when I eventually realised that actually – we were running away! That doesnt in any way put down the feat of the small boats etc. But we portray it as a victory
