The Weather Must be Bad!

The BBC has just had a report from Hull abut the awful conditions there.

I thought that Hull was one of those places where the weather usually didn’t get that cold and snowy.  If that memory is correct, then this cold spell must be bad!

  1. I am at work…as the bakery is operational…people still need bread.
The phones are busy…whether we can get deliveries made..is another matter.

I grew up in Sheffield. I remember walking to school, in the tracks of the milk lorry…up to waist in snow. I would be perhaps 7..as my elder sister and younger brother were with me, and the school headmistress. (Lovely lady..wonderful teacher..). The clasrooms had coal fires..

    Take care in the snow..

  2. I grew up in Cockfosters in North London on the end of the Picadilly Line. Believe it or not if you travel east from there the next piece of high land is the Urals. It was cold, but I can only remember one or two heavy snow falls and none cut us off. Although on many days, I had to chip the ice off the windows of my bedroom. At least this house is warm nd the sun is out!

  3. It is snowing heavily here in Manchester, I have cancelled my usual Wednesday morning activity – most of the group are elderly, including a lady of 92 who would have crawled through the snow to get there – and I am not joking.

My husband hasnt gone to work, he is doing paperwork in his office upstairs here, and his meeting in London is cancelled for tomorrow.

In an hour or so I might ring the Trafford Centre and see if there are spare scooters with people not turning up, and might go there for a couple of hours.

Youngest daughter has gone to work, will likely be sent home early. Oldest cant open her garage door to get the car out, and says she wouldnt attempt to use the car anyway, Kent is very bad – M25 is one of the worst roads apparently. So she is doing paperwork and planning as well.

If I dont go to TC, I will probably wrap my Chritmas presents
