Meeting Someone At King’s Cross

A friend is currently in transit from Edinburgh to London King’s Cross.  As the weather is so foul, I felt that I should do the gentlemanly thing and turn up at the station to greet her and make sure, she is safely on her way to her daughter’s by taking a taxi to Marylebone for another train.

But the train tracker on East Coast’s site, although very comprehensive only lists those trains that will shortly arrive. It should list all that are actually on the track between Edinburgh and London.  This way, if there is a delay, I can stay here in the dry and only leave at the last minute.

  1. Lovely day here in Yorkshire. Bright sunshine.
What I would do…is you know approx how long the journey takes….and then use tracker for each stage…check Newcastle..York…Doncaster…Newark Peterborough…

  2. Sounds reasonable to me and bearing in mind that most people drive to the station to meet up and that they might then drive away and come back later, an online checker would be environmentally friendly and cost-saving to boot … too much like common sense methinks?!

  3. Apricot, Effectively that’s what I did, by text messaging my friend.
Karrie, Most people go to Kings X by public transport. There’s little provision for cars at all. I always go by bus, as there’s a route, that stops 50 metres from my house, that stops in front of the station. A taxi is only about £8 if you’ve got lots of luggage.
