Nokia Blows It

I use a Nokia 6310i, as it does everything I want from a mobile phone and more. So where did they all go wrong? As rumours are that they are in serious trouble.

According to this article, they spent too much time in the sauna.

I doubt I’ll ever buy a smart phone, as they just don’t suit my lifestyle.  I’m even taking my laptop on trains less, as a magazine or paper and my phone give me all the entertainment I need.

I do wonder sometimes, whether a large part of the population are growing tired of electronic toys. Reality is so much more fun!

  1. You may have seen the news alrady by now, but they have just entered into a JV agreement with Microsoft. We can now look forward now to even more features that have nothing to do with telophony. We shouldn’t really blame the manufacturers, as it is what they produce is demand led by consumers. I am afraid the 6310i fans such as you and me are in a minority. Nokia were very good in the 6310i era, and rather cornered the market. From the top, a company can only stay there or go down. Unfortunately going down is more common.

  2. We may be in a minority, but some phone companies have realised this and are now making droppble, simple, waterproof and dustproof phones, that text, make calls and a few other basic things with long-life batteries. I tried a Samsung one, but it wasn’t quite there yet, as the keys were too small and difficult for my hands!
