Did The Cyclists Have a Plan B?

It was very disappointing, that Mark Cavendish or one of the other GB cyclists didn’t win any medals in the Road Race today.

But as we saw in the Tour de France, they are not exactly untalented, so when their tactics were failing, as commentators were saying, why did they not change them?

It should be noted that when Mark Cavendish won the World Championships, the teams were larger, so the small team size probably didn’t help.

It seemed too, that the Germans didn’t have an alternative plan either, so it’s not just a British problem.

On the other hand in the Tour de France, plans appear to be changed regularly to suit the circumstances. But then the riders there are much more controlled from coaches in the cars and are in radio contact!

It strikes me that cycling teams need to evolve a better way of working.

  1. This is going to be a real Olympic Games . . . some of our favourites, will do well . . .

Others, will get caught up and lose in the ealy heats . . . but they are all Winners, winning as an Olympian 2012.

There will be the Winners {like the Oz Swim Girls in relay . . . helped by Lizzy in the heats} . . . an unexpected Gold . . .

Oz equal 6 Day 1 Medal Count . . . good to see medals spread around

  2. The Aussies weren’t good in that cycling, either. The thinking of all the favourites didn’t work, but it was sad to see it won by the cheat from Kazahkstan!

  3. The Aussies were GOOD . . . being an Olympian is being good . . . anything else is even better . . .

London is putting Fun, Enjoyment & Competing back into Sport into the Games . . . Just as per the Opening Ceremony

    • I’m not saying the Aussies weren’t good, but they just dropped into the same trap that others did. The women seem to be all following their own plans, so perhaps sense is creeping in.

What is strange is that everyone in London is talking to each other. Sit on a bus and you’ll have a fifteen minutes conversation with the guy or gal next to you, as though, you’re long lost mates. And often you shake hands to say goodbye. I’m not saying Londoners aren’t friendly, but they seem to be losing their reserve.

That reserve has certainly gone out of the window today, as everyone is standing in the rain watching the women cyclists get very wet.
