  1. I was disappointed by this exhibition. Not in its scale, which was big, nor in the organisation, which was impressive and sensible, but in the actual pics, which are no better ‘in the flesh’ than in reproduction IMHO. They really were popular art, weren’t they? My favourite was ‘Work’ by Ford Madox Ford set at Hampstead, but perhaps because I once had it as a jigsaw and know it well. Otherwise, a let-down for me.
