The Slow Demolition Job At Highbury And Islington Station

I went past Highbury and Islington station yesterday and they’re still demolishing the old Post Office.

Has any other demolition job taken so long? Original gossip in the newsagents and at the station, said it would take a week. I first posted that work had started on the first of February.

I can only thing that the building is built with lots of asbestos.

  2. It’s not a very large building at all, either; I can only agree with you on the asbestos suggestion. There doesn’t seem any other reason such a small building would take so long to demolish, other than its awkward location. It’s such a depressing location too, especially considering how it used to look before the V1s and then the demolition for the Victoria Line.

    • One post I put up says that it will be down by March 2015 I think they ought to put a deck over the station and use it for some useful building, that needs good transport access, like a hospital, council offices, shops or even lots of apartments. The station takes up a large area and it’s wasted.
