Battersea Park Station Revisited
I crossed the river by getting a train from Battersea Park station.
It certainly isn’t one of London’s better appointed stations!
It certainly isn’t one of London’s better appointed stations, with dangerous stairs and narrow platforms! Or one with the best signposting and information.
With all the development going on in Battersea, surely if any station needs a refurbishment it is this one,
Battersea Underground Station Is Starting
I eventually walked on to Battersea Power Station and took these pictures.
You can see where it looks like the construction of Battersea Underground station will be starting.
It doesn’t seem to be causing much disruption.
Looking For Nine Elms Underground Station
I took a walk from near to Vauxhall station through the New Covent Garden Market, looking for the new Nine Elms Underground station on the Northern Line Extension.
As you can see, it Nine Elms is becoming a forest of glass towers. This Google Map shows where I walked.
The Wilcox Road bus stop where the 196 bus dropped me, is to the right, by the supermarket car park that is being used as the site of Nine Elms station.
You can see the shadow of Battersea Power station at the top left.
Before Northern Line Extension – Kennington
I took these pictures of Kennington station as I passed through on my way to Battersea.
I hope that the station gets a makeover with the extension. It is rather tired and shabby, although it had a refurbishment in 2005.
Perhaps Transport for London are hoping that most passengers will pass straight through on their way to and from the delights of Battersea and Tooting.
