Stopping Your Computer Upgrading To Windows 10

I never upgrade my computers to the new version of an operating system, unless it is absolutely necessary.

No-one has convinced me of a valid reason yet! And I doubt anyone will!

They are my computers, so I decide when to upgrade, not some idiot who might vote for Donald Trump and believes in the right to bare arms and the death penalty. Not you Bill, but can you vouch for all your employees?

But I have been pointed to this little program entitled GWX Control Panel, that immunises your computer against unwanted junk from Micros**t!

  1. You certainly don’t have to upgrade to Windows 10, but if you don’t you will be stuck with one of the many previous poor offerings that MS produced. Windows 10 may not be perfect (personally I prefer Linux), but it is far better than some of the earlier offerings and the last Windows system MS will produce (from now on there will only be upgrades). If you have a recent Windows system, the upgrade is free at the moment, so probably best to get it while the offer is open. If you are happy with older versions of Windows, but want to have the benefit of support for modern hardware, then Ubuntu (Linux) is good, fast and free. There is also an enormous amount of free software for use with Linux. J

  2. I escaped the problem and switch to iMac, which I love. I do have a Windows 10 laptop, but that is used solely to scan the 15,000 photos I am scanning with a very large A3 4 in 1 scanner. Scanner way too big to put in the corner of the living room next to the computer, and so have created a workspace upstairs in sewing room, but don’t want iMac to go up there. I will be saving images into Cloud and then downloading to a very large 250 terabyte drive. Not got started yet as mum’s last illness and death has got in the way.
