Alliance Delayed In Opening London Blackpool Service

Accordinh to this article in Global Rail News, Allisnce will have to delay opening its six times a day, three-hour aervice.

A three hour service will mean that a train leaving Blackpool at 6 will be back in the town at 12 and then again at 18:00. So one train will give three return trips a day, if you add in some minutes for turning the train.

So six trains per day will need just two trains.

  1. I have a question you might be able to answer. Why on earth is Abellio configuring its future Aventras with 3+2 seating using the horrible ironing board seats which are spreading like a cancer across the UK railways? Look at the differences between the interiors of their Stadler trains and Bombardier trains. https://www.greateranglia.co.uk/form/transforming-your-railway-with-new-trains

    • I’ve no idea, but I agree with your thoughts.

I recently travelled on a Class 150, that had been tefurbished as an inside job by GWR at I suspect Laira depot.

The seats were very comfortable and were based on the old frames. You just need to spend a few pounds extra a seat.
I have a feeling that SWT will be putting better 2+2 seats in their Aventras, as the current 455s have 2+2 seating which is good for a short distance commuter train.
