I took these pictures as I passed the Werrington Dive-Under on my way North this morning.
It seems to be coming on.

About This Blog
What this blog will eventually be about I do not know.
But it will be about how I’m coping with the loss of my wife and son to cancer in recent years and how I manage with being a coeliac and recovering from a stroke. It will be about travel, sport, engineering, food, art, computers, large projects and London, that are some of the passions that fill my life.
And hopefully, it will get rid of the lonely times, from which I still suffer.
Why Anonymous? That’s how you feel at times.

East Coast Upgrade (@ECMLupgrade) Tweeted: 👀 This fantastic bird’s-eye view shows the great progress we’re making at Werrington, north of Peterborough, to construct a new line and tunnel to let freight trains dive under the East Coast Main Line, making room for more passenger trains as part of our #EastCoastUpgrade. https://t.co/GHycuwrRjf
Network rail has issued a video of this project from above which given complaints about HS2 and suggestions of upgrading existing lines shows how much land is still needed !

Werrington is the third big dive-under project after Acton and Bermondsey. I wonder how many others are in the pipeline, now they seem to be able to build them without causing disruption.

Interesting press release from NR https://www.networkrailmediacentre.co.uk/news/peterborough-north-passengers-who-have-to-travel-on-east-coast-main-line-urged-to-plan-ahead-as-major-stage-of-gbp-1-2billion-upgrade-takes-place-this-month One advantage of Covid means there are fewer passengers to be inconvenienced by engineering works of this scale.
