Bruce Grove Station Restored To 1872 Glory
The title of this post, is the same as that of this article on the BBC.
This is the sub-heading.
Renovations at Tottenham’s Bruce Grove Station have breathed life into its disused rooms and paid homage to its Victorian history.
These three paragraphs outline the project.
Following structural repairs, the London Overground station now has a new community space and waiting room.
Haringey Council has worked in partnership with others to improve the station and its accessibility.
Work was completed in December 2023 and arrangements for using the community space will be finalised soon.
These are pictures I took this morning.
Note.
- The work is to a very high standard.
- Two rooms have been refurbished.
Other stations probably have rooms like these, that could be refurbished.
Bruce Grove Station – 11th July 2015
When I visited Bruce Grove station in September 2014, I wasn’t impressed and gave the station a score of 1/10.
These pictures were taken today.
It may be cleaner, but I don’t think it’s much better, although I’d now give it 2/10.
Before Overground – Bruce Grove
The Area Deserves Something A Lot Better! – Rating 1/10
Bruce Grove station is very much a minimalist station.
It’s debatable if it is as bad as Bethnal Green, as it does have the advantages it’s on a busy High Road opposite a large McDonalds and not too far from the Grade 1-Listed Bruce Castle.
But it is very lacking in facilities and has the obligatory access up and down steep stairs, with no alternative. The stairs are also open to the elements, so must be very safe in high winds and heavy rain.
