Sarah Brown is an Optional Extra at £12,800

I do find it very tasteless when former useless Prime Ministers tote their services as speakers on the after-dinner circuit.  Books are one thing, as you have the choice about buying them and they may contain some interesting nuggets, but who’d pay Prudence about £64,000 for a speech.  Perhaps, an arse-licker of the first level might, but I prefer to kick arses rather than lick them.

What however got me about this story, was that Sarah Brown is an optional extra at £12,800 and she will present a prize for that! Most of the women, I know would consider this a supreme insult. C would be laughing like a drain at the ludicrous nature of it all!

  1. You forgot to mention that he is also demanding first class travel for himself, business class travel for 3 others, and 5 star hotel accommodation for all of them. One might have thought given the stupid price that this included travel and subsistence.

  2. There’s obviously at least one born every minute. Sadly at least one ended up as Prime Minister!

  3. Well known people asking exorbitant fees for appearances and speeches makes me very cross. Especially when they demand those fees for a charity event – I have no indication that the Brown’s are guilty of that, but I could include some very well known names who do. And then want their picture in the paper and on the TV with some person who is a user of the charity. Whilst other famous people visit very sick children or elderly people or whatever very quietly, smuggled into the hospice or hospital through the back door, no photos, no press, no publicity, and sit around for a couple of hours and chat or read stories to the children. Unpaid, because they care!
