Would I Return to Great Yarmouth?
Obviously, I would! Great Yarmouth shows how with a bit of effort, you can tranform a working town with a good beach into an interesting place to spend a day.
There are lots of things I didn’t see in Great Yarmouth, like Nelson’s Monument and there are some museums to explore. I also want to see inside St. Nicholas and see the Lydia Eva under steam. Yesterday, too, I missed out the racecourse, as I know it well and that is always worth a visit on a nice day. I’ve probably been at least fifteen times and C had a winner there. But yesterday, was the first day, I’d explored the town. Shame on me!
I’ll go by train of course and let’s hope that when I do, the trains are bigger, better and more numerous. The station could do with a makeover too!
There is much to do in Great Yarmouth, before it becomes an important destination again It has the beaches, the arcades, the piers, but it also has a large number of more mundane things that bring joy to a decrepit tourist like myself.
Remember, it’s a fairly flat town, so walking is easy and the best way to get about.
There must be one, but I didn’t find a tourist office.
Perhaps too, for a comparison, I’ll go to Lowestoft before I move to London.
Flat is good, are the pavements fairly even and well cared for? This is abig consideration when in a mobility scooter

The pavements were very good and flat. In fact, there were quite a few scooters and wheel chairs about! Obviously, you wouldn’t have been able to do the Lydia Eva, but that would have been about all.

I married a merchant naval officer. In the past nearly 30 years I have been around a lot of ships. I can live without seeing the Lydia Eva. I would sit in the sunshine with a nice cup of tea and watch the world whilst he explored it!
Depending on how large the ship is, I could probably look at it, I can walk and for some reason, climbing stairs is not a problem at all, it is pain free whereas flat walking isnt. Although with poor grip I might find the ladder steps on board ship a problem.

You’d propably be better to stay on the dock! Tell your husband about the ship, as they need to find out about her military history, when she was used by the RAF for all sorts of odd jobs.

I will indeed tell Neil, he is very interested in military history generally, WW 1 and 2 particularly. he is in his element right now, there is so much WW2 around because of the anniversary of Battle of Britain, particularly it is being covered on the Military History Channel on TV. I too am interested in history, but not military, mostly social and medical particularly Roman, Dark Ages (which werent dark at all) and Medieval
