The Anonymous Widower

Geffrye Museum

Today I paid a visit to the Geffrye Museum, which is just a short walk from Hoxton Station on the East London Line.

It is a charming museum, which has a succession of interiors of tytpical English houses over the last few centuries.

The museum is well worth a visit.

  1. Was there any Bird’s Eye Maple veneer furniture, second half of 19th C, and does it gove details of where the furniture and/or the timber/veneers come from?

And do they let you run your hands over the wood. Most museums dont I love the feel of real wood. We have a museum here where you are allowed to touch things and pick things up, and sit on the furniture, it is wonderful. Wood is very beautiful, especially BEM. I have a lot of that in my home
