My Road in the Snow
I suppose I’ve lived in London off and on for about half my life.
But I can only remember it snowing like this twice in London before.
Once when I was a child about eleven and then one Christmas when we lived in St. John’s Wood, I can remember driving to East Barnet to bring my mother-in-law to Christmas lunch through the snow in a borrowed Vauxhall Cresta.
But this is my road tonight.

We have been to Liverpool today, which was clear of snow, but very cold, we had lunch at the Harvester at Otterspool. We also went to St Helens, where it has sort of snowed, the snow was spherical rather than snowflakes, but not the right colour or texture to be hail – it was lying though, but not very deep. It is now snowing here, and lying.
In this weather, London is definitely a better place for you to be than way out in the countryside.
