Pakistan’s Intelligence
The Pakistan Intelligence Service didn’t seem to know that Osama Bin Laden was living in their midst and they didn’t seem to know or detect the American raid.
But is this anything new?
They didn’t have any inkling of the attacks on Mumbai, that killed so many innocent people either.
And this is just the start.
Pakistan gets masses of aid from countries like the United States, but where does it all go? Certainly not to the Intelligence Service in any meaningful and constructive manner.
It is a very broken country, that really needs to get a grip on itself. Some like Imran Khan have tried but got nowhere. Others like Benazir Bhutto have been assassinated.
It is very hard to believe that noone in authority knew what was behind the 12 foot high walls around the OBL mansion. A large building with no telephone lines and no internet connection would surely raise interest with someone. In a country riddled with political problems and terrorism, there must have been somebody in a senior position responsible for investigating suspicious places such as this. Clearly there was some covert operation going on in the compound and 12 foot walls are useless against modern satellite survelance.

I just think that it all emphasises how useless Pakistan’s Intelligence services are. Just think of the number of atrocities in Pakistan, where you think they should have known.

Apparently, the Pakistani authorities raided the building in 2003, according to this report on the BBC.

Words like organising a piss-up in a brewery come to mind!
