Through The Looking Glass

I was in Liverpool in the 1960s and met C there. Obviously, she wore as trendy clothes as she could afford and Liverpool’s trendiest boutique was Through The Looking Glass on Mount Pleasant.

Was Through The Looking Glass Here?

I think it was here in this basement.  I think it was owned by one of The Scaffold.

  4. So what was the dress shop there? I know C had bought a dress from Through The Looking Glass as she wore it to dinner for me on my 21st birthday. That would be in 1968.

  7. The boutique was down the steps. The dresses my late wife bought there at that time make what girls today wear look rather long. You can understand why women, who dressed in 1960s minis rather wore stockings until recently.

    • IMy wife arrived in Liverpool in 1966 and she definitely wore a dress bought in Through the Looking Glass at my 21st birthday dinner in August 68. She purchased that on Mount Pleasant, as I remember her showing me the shop.

Sjort wasn’t the word for it!

      • Perhaps they had moved to Mt Pleasant by 1968 but they started in Hackins Hey as I used to meet my mum there from work. Interesting though that people remember it after fifty odd years.

  9. I have a very strong visual memory. When you’re married to someone for nearly forty years you keep the good memories. Are you still in Liverpool?
