A Quick Calculation

A doctor has just said that each faulty breast implant replacement will cost about £16,000

If there are 40,000 faulty implants in the UK, that works out at £640 million

My wife died of a rare cancer and that money spent on cancer research would help a lot more people and not just the vain and the stupid!

If you feel strongly about this, there’s an e-petition on the government’s web site.

  1. I agree, unless women have had the implants as part of breast reconstruction after cancer etc, NHS should not be expected to foot the bill for the replacements.

  2. True. But then in NHS reconstructive surgery, they would have used bona-fide implants if they’d needed them. I haven’t heard any suggestion that the PIP implants have been used on the NHS.

I always remember too, about a tale, one of C’s clients, a plastic surgeon, told her. A woman came to him, with different sized breasts, asking for the small one to be made larger. He suggested that it would be better, if he made the larger one smaller, which is what he did. In fact, he told her he was doing more and more breast reduction.
