What’s Wrong With Me?
I took this picture of an advert for four of the major tourist attractions in London.
I did go on the London Eye once, but you get better views from the Emirates Air-Line and One New Change, at a much lower cost.
But the London Aquarium, the London Dungeon and Madame Tussauds, would be prime examples of the sort of places, I would never chose to visit.
The latter must be one of the most over-hyped rip-offs in London! If I want to see likenesses of famous people, I go to the National Portrait Gallery, which shows Tussauds t0 be the crap it is. And the National Portrait Gallery is totally free, except for the special exhibitions.

It mentions the Sea Life centre as well. When we went to London for a week when the children were little, we wouldnt have spent time in London going there because are lots of them nearer to where we live. When we were in London we specifically went to see things that we could only see in London! At that time, you paid to get into many museums until after 4.00 pm, and so several days we finished at a museum at 4.00 for free entry, and then towards the end of the week, we asked them which one they liked enough to go into for longer and pay. They surprised us by both saying the V&A.

Strangely, I’ve never been to either the V & A or the Natural History Museum. But I’m often in the British Museum, the Museum of London, the National Gallery or the National Portrait Gallery. I actually like Open House, as you get to see some very unusual places.

it was one I hadnt been to either, nor Natural History Museum, which did a 4.00 visit too but werent that impressed. I have been to most if not all of others. Both girls likes the National Gallery, which was free anyway, and we were there a long time.

I think also with me being of a mixed Jewish, Huguenot and Devon background there is a strong streak in me, that doesn’t like paying for something, if you can get it free.
On the other hand, I will travel First Class on trains, provided it’s value!
But then today for lunch, I’ve had baked eggs with sardines. Simple and delicious and just over a pound.

Didnt know you are part Jewish. Presume you have never followed Judaism or researched it much?

I have a lot of Jewish attitudes to things like an afterlife and believe very strongly, that it is what you do on this earth that matters. My coeliac disease probably came down my father’s Ashkenasi Jewish male line. It’s quite a common source of coeliac disease.
