A Waste Of A Phone-In

I often listen to the phone-in on BBC Radio 5.  This morning, it has been discussing whether the Devil should be taken out of the Christening Service.

I’ve never heard so much rubbish in all my life, as Christians go on and on about the Devil being real and how it is as it all says in the Bible.

There has been a bit of sense, from a woman priest band a few atheists, but most of the other is totally for the dustbin.

If Christians accept that God and the Devil are in their own image, then not one has said that they could be female. Some might argue that religion was invented by men to keep women in their place.

The only important thing about a christening, is to make sure that the child has others, who they can trust, to lead them through life. That has nothing to do with religion! You could have a good party instead, which would have the same effect.

  1. CofE have lost the plot over this, many people who go to church, especially CofE I think, have an image of God which is not Bible based, which if they are professing to be Christians it really should be. They cherry pick the nice gentle, warm fluffy bits and ignore the rest. And they don’t know much about what is in the Bible, especially the Old Testament. And they prefer to believe there isn’t a devil. Myself, I believe there is a force for evil, which I choose to call the devil.

My reason for thinking that CofE have lost the plot is that baptising babies is very much NOT Biblical, Baptism is for people who have made a commitment to God in the Christian tradition. Now there are secular “naming ceremonies” and now people can get married in pretty old houses etc the CofE are losing out on the revenue from them, and are trying to encourage people to have the Christian ceremonies instead.

However, I am not an Anglican and so it isn’t really any of my business.
