Next Year It’ll Be Fifty Years Since I Left Minchenden
It was in June or July 1965, that I walked out of Minchenden Grammar School in Southgate for the last time.
A lot has happened to me since, some of which is in this blog. Although some tales have been left out to protect the squeamish and the innocent.
I wonder if anybody is organising a fifty years reunion for the Class of 1965 from Minchenden?
Surely, in the true spirit that we learned at the school, we should make 2015 a year to remember!
Why not ring the school and ask if anyone is organising anything. if they aren’t, then organise it yourself. Was it mix or boys only? I went to an all girls grammar school and organised one, I traced everyone in my year aside from about 10 girls.
Are you in touch with any old school friends, I was in contact with about 5, and knew were the parents lived for about another half dozen or so. I sent out Christmas cards to the girls I was in touch with, or knew their parents address, very early, about end of November. They were in touch with different girls, and the word got around very quickly. This was a while back, no internet then.
If can remember names of people, or have a school photo to remind you of names, it would be easy to find people on Linkdin or similar, or Facebook, even on google. The local paper would probably probably do a right up and that would also bring forward old students.
It would be a great project, especially for over the winter.
