Finding An Errant Parcel!

I ordered something on-line for Christmas and realised this morning that it had not arrived.

So I got on to the company and they replied in an hour or so, that Parcelforce had tried to deliver it on the eighth and that they had left a card and taken it to the Post Office.

I searched my hall and I could find no red Parcelforce card amongst the masses of junk mail, that I get. But then I’ve had a couple of incidents like this, where a parcel has not been delivered and no card has been left, from different couriers. I should say that I’ve also had delivery drivers and couriers get lost and end up in the mews at the back of the house.

I think the problem, is that there are several banned right turns and because of this sat-navs send drivers on a roundabout route. If a driver knows the area, it might encourage them to take a short cut and the mews is one that looks a good one. But unfortunately, the far end is blocked.

So as they can’t find my house, they just card one with a similar number and get off out of it.

I then went over to Camden, as I suspected the parcel was at their main depot.

It wasn’t!

But they said, if I could get the Tracking Number, they would find it.

So when I got the Tracking Number, I found it was in a Post Office about a mile away.

It took me about thirty minutes and two buses to get it.

I think there are various lessons to be learned from this.

  • The system of the cards needs to be improved.
  • Sat-nav systems must get better.
  • Purchasers should have easy access to the Tracking Numbers.

But at least no harm was done!

  1. At least you have the parcel.
I am missing two…and the carriers…Her*es…(choose your own missing letter…) are less than helpful. They are blaming the retailers.
    Not so.
When the guy has used the “goods are behind the side gate card” and there are no goods…it doesnt take Sherlock to figure out what is happening……

Somewhere…there is a gift of two silk lingerie sets….would suit curvy lady…and an evening dress…..could well be under someone elses tree….or on e*ay very soon….

    This isnt a happy bunny….

  2. I have no side gate which helps. Unfortunately, the cafe opposite is closed, whilst it turns itself into a high-class cake shop, but parcels used to end up there, which was very convenient.

You’d think though that sat-navs could get a grid of streets in Central London right! But they don’t!

I’m in Yorkshire on te 2nd, as Ipswich are playing Burnley and I will probably go up via Leeds.

  3. I shop mainly online, and so get lots of parcels delivered. They all say on the package “If out leave with any neighbour” – we all take each others parcels in, never a problem. But some drivers can’t read, and can’t write cards either. One of the favourites used to be leaving the parcel in the wheelie bin!!!!! Once they had been caught by me a couple of times, they stopped doing it. I am good a politely telling people off strongly!! Plus we never leave the wheelie bin in the front garden anymore.

    • The problem here is that sat-navs take them to the wrong place. But we generally look afer each other here, although these days most of my smaller parcels are delivered to the store and I pick them up.

But I do little shopping on line for delivery to my house.
