An Irresistible Force Attempts To Shift An Immoveable Object

This article in The Guardian is entitled Govia Thameslink takes Aslef union to court over longer trains dispute and the title gives a good précis of the story.

Could this be why new Cl;ass 700 trains have not entered service on time, as I reported in Where Are The Class 700 Train?

After all, some of them will be twelve-cars too!

  1. Do class 700’s even have a facility for anyone but the driver to operate the doors, except in an emergency?

    • On the Underground in London, doors are opened and closed by the driver using CCTV and mirrors for a view. On most suburban trains in London, the driver releases the doors and passengers do the actual opening. I suspect that Class 700 trains are like that.

The oddity is Class 319 trains, where in the |South East the driver releases the doors and passengers open them, but on Merseyside opening the doors is the guard’s job.

Obviously, the unions are putting their full weight behind Corbynism! Perhaps, he’s too far to the right for them?
