Her Majesty’s Battery Train

This is a preliminary post and I will complete it, when I return home.

I saw it today and although it is just parked in a siding at the Royal Deeside Railway, it is far from in a derelict condition.

No-one knows if The Queen ever rode in the train, but I was told that the Queen Mother did and actually liked it, because it proceeded slowly through the countryside.

I was also told that one of the reasons for closing the route, was that cows kept getting on the line and stopping the train. If that is true, then you wonder how many other lines were closed in the 1960s, because British Rail didn’t have the money or the will to fix the problems?
