ORR Authorises Merseyrail ‘777s’

The title of this post, is the same as that of this article on Rail Magazine.

This is the first paragraph.

Merseyrail’s 52 Class 777 trains have been authorised for passenger use by the Office of Rail and Road.

I can’t wait to get up to Liverpool to have a ride.

But it will be a few weeks yet!

On the other hand, these trains will be as valuable to Merseyside as Crossrail will be to London.

  1. Until they reach agreement with RMT over what the on board person does ASLEF won’t get involved with driver training apparently. At least units are out on mileage accumulation runs now.

  2. The 777s are a game changer in battery-electric mode. They will be the first battery trains on a metro network in the UK. Japan has had them for a while
