What this blog will eventually be about I do not know.
But it will be about how I’m coping with the loss of my wife and son to cancer in recent years and how I manage with being a coeliac and recovering from a stroke. It will be about travel, sport, engineering, food, art, computers, large projects and London, that are some of the passions that fill my life.
And hopefully, it will get rid of the lonely times, from which I still suffer.

Interesting wiki article on HVO but not much about the make up of the exhaust I.e. levels of carbon monoxide, nitrous oxide etc
I assume these are lower than normal diesel but they are still carbon-based fuels being burnt so some levels of noxious fumes must still be emitted.

I suspect in a port or depot, where staff are walking amongst the exhausts, hydrogen must have an advantage, as there would only be water.
Certainly, the average Class 66 locomotive puts out a lot of fumes.

Interesting idea. Not sure how much power is is produced compared to normal diesel, and how it affects engine life and whether it is a cheaper source of power. Most of the non fossil fuel alternatives appear to cost up to eight times the cost per unit of normal fuels.

I wonder whether these bio-fuels are economically usefull. What effect does it have on engine life? Wiki is light on information for hydrogenated fuels. Emissions are not advertised as much less than diesel either. A Deltic on full chat was no better than a steam engine when being coaled, with lots of black smoke, nice noise though!

They’re doing an extended trial to find out how well the fuels work.
It will give a base cost, when converting to hydrogen.
