This was the bag that the company gave me with the shoes
Surely, paper bags score highly in many ways; practicality, affordability, recyclability and as advertising.
Why don’t we see bags like these more often?

What this blog will eventually be about I do not know.
But it will be about how I’m coping with the loss of my wife and son to cancer in recent years and how I manage with being a coeliac and recovering from a stroke. It will be about travel, sport, engineering, food, art, computers, large projects and London, that are some of the passions that fill my life.
And hopefully, it will get rid of the lonely times, from which I still suffer.

On one level I agree completely. On another level – what happens when it rains? I don’t shop much, because of infection risk, and I try and remember to take a fabric bag with me. But often forget. I have a very large handbag which small things fit into – the most I am likely to buy is a couple of reels of thread, or a gift card etc. I can’t remember what I bought a few weeks ago that came in a paper back like the one you got your shoes in, but the handle broke before I got back to the car.
So paper bags – yes – but stronger ones with stronger handles.

Paper bags became less popular with retailers when plastic became available because paper is more expensive and heavier/bulkier to trasport
