My Post Is Now Collected Early In The Morning
Ever since, I moved here a dozen years ago, I’ve posted my letters and cards in the box opposite my house in the middle of the afternoon.
This caught the post at 16:30.
I don’t send much post, as I tend to use e-mail, but tonight I needed to send a friend a card.
As I had to put the bins out for the unusual Christmas Saturday morning collection, I did both jobs together.
I also found that the mail collection is as follows.
- Monday to Friday 09:00
- Saturday – 07:00
I think that could be very sensible.

We have had that for years – and the postie who delivers our mail empties the boxes on his delivery round. Saves separate staff doing late collection rounds.
One way to get a post box closed by changing the collection time to a non customer useful time. So we now walk and extra 600-800m into our small town to the newsagent post office which has a more conventional late collection of 1700 when the parcels etc are collected from the newsagent post office.
