Liverpool Street Station – 20th February 2026
I took these pictures this morning.
Note.
- There are not enough lifts and escalators.
- It is a station with three monumental clocks and a couple of digital ones.
- There are certainly a lot of shopping, but much of it is tired.
- The Leon in the station isn’t there anymore.
- There is not a gluten-free restaurant in the station, that I would trust enough to use, but there is a Marks & Spencer Food outlet.
This is a visualisation of the upgraded station from Network Rail.

Quite a few Leons are disappearing. I don’t know if you mentioned it before but from their web site: “Andrew Andronikou, Brian Burke and Michael Kiely of Quantuma Advisory Limited were appointed as Joint Administrators of Leon Restaurants Limited (“the Company”) on 10 December 2025. The Company continues to trade whilst in administration through the Joint Administrators and their staff, who act as agents of the Company and without personal liability.”
A list stores announced as closing:

It is getting worse every year to find somewhere for coeliacs to eat out. Especially for me, as I only have one fully-working hand, due to a bullying incident in 1961.
It’s breakfast that is the big problem, as most restaurants that are a bit up market can do a gluten-free lunch or dinner.
