Permanently Feeling Glutened

I still have the bad nails and itchy scalp and sometimes I think that I’m getting almost a daily dose of gluten.  I should get the results of the blood tests in the next day or so, so I’ll hopefully know whether I have a biochemical issue.

Could it be the statins or the Warfarin tablets I take?  I’ll give the manufacturers a call today too!

  1. Statins have lots of side effects. The drug manufacturers will swear blind that there is no way anything remotely gluten related could possibly be in their drugs. They will be lying, although the person telling you this may not realise it is a lie.

I have blue light job after taking a codeine tablet, something I regularly took at the time, but this was a generic I hadnt had before. My mouth and tongue swelled. The hospital, the GP and the pharmacist I go to all said that in all liklihood there was either something fish related, or some gluten in the tablet – they said the fish was more likely, as I do react to that in this way. But it would be impossible to prove

  2. It would appear that my statins are an Indian-made generic and the filler is maize starch. But then I’ve felt like this long before I was on this brand of statin.

  3. What about toothpaste and mouth wash, when I was feeling permanently glutened, that was the culprit. I changed to a brand without sorbitol – Kingfisher Fennel Favour with Flouride and I am fine

  4. I don’t think it’s that! I’ve been feeling better for the last two days and I seemed to improve with a big steak on Saturday night!

  5. A big steak helps most things. Perhaps I will meet youngest daughter for lunch this week, they do excellent steak at the place opposite where she works.

I didnt get glutened on Saturday, but I felt rough because I had eaten so much processed food, we rarely eat anything processed at home, if we do it will be at most a small amount a couple of times a week. But I needed to match the GF/DF etc stuff with the rest of the buffet. Personally I would have preferred to do a huge vegan pasta bake with lots of salad!

  6. It now looks it’s low calcium and vitamin D levels. Not that low but they could be the problem!

  7. Find some nice hot sun to sit in, and eat lots of fish with bones in whilst you are doing it!
