Let’s Ban Mother’s Day

Signs like this really get my goat.

Mother's Day Promotion

After all, I haven’t got a mother and C, the mother of my sons died three years ago.

And I bet the free meal on offer doesn’t have a gluten-free option.

How about a widows day?

  1. There are also a lot of adults whose mothers seriously abused them, who find all the shmaltzy sentimental crap very upsetting. I am also really surprised when I see adverts for suggested mothers day gifts costing over £100, sometimes much more than that. What happened to saving pocket money for a bunch of daffodils?

  2. Its not Mothers day at all…its Mothering Sunday…totally different and hijacked for commerical reasons.
    Google it…

I wouldnt dare suggest its Mothers Day to my Mother…she would be horrified. The test will be this Sunday.,…given she has dementia…whether there is any recognition whatsoever….

    I hope there is…

  3. I don’t mind Mother’s Day or Mothering Sunday as it used to be known, but I do object to the commercial tat. Worse still are all the other relative’s days that it has spawned. How long before we see Second Cousin’s Once Removed Day!

  4. My late mother-in-law hated the day being called Mother’s Day. But at least it was fairly down her scale of annoyance.

  5. NNNOOOOOOOOOOO!

PLease NOT Second Cousin Once Removed Day! He is in the far North West of Scotland, if he thought he might get presents he might come back.

Actually, he has improved with keeping, now he realises we wont accept the c**p his mother and grandmother accepted.
