An Abandoned Jewish Cemetery
Walking around London, I get amazed and sometimes very sad.
This picture was taken at a virtually abandoned Jewish Cemetery in Bancroft Road behind the Mile End Hospital.
Yesterday, I was amazed at finding this cemetery without any information on either my map or the fence and saddened at its state.

Cemetary care seems to be very patchy around the country. The one photograph does look as if it is at least being mowed. Some are knee high in grass. The best cared for “old and full” one I have seen is Nightingale Road Cemetary in Godalming. I am tracing my family tree, hence why I was down there.

On a slightly different tack, my parents maintain the grave of my grandparents and great grandparents – they dont do much, flowers at Easter and Christmas, and paying for cleaning the stone etc.
But a couple of times they have been and there are artifical flowers on it. There are no family members in the area, we have no idea who is putting them there.
