The Pollen Count is Going to Get Worse

I’ve just looked at the pollen count forecast on the Met Office web site.  Their new system is here.

It would appear that by the weekend the levels will be high.

Yesterday, I asked a friend, who is a racehorse trainer, whether he had been affected. He personally hadn’t, but some of his horses had had hay fever like symptoms, with runny eyes.

He thought the high levels were because we had a warm April, and that has brought everything forward, so all of the pollen has come along at the same time.

  1. I usually suffer badly from hayfever but this season has been very mild so far for me.

    • I never suffered this badly until this year. On the other hand two or three of my friends, who live near here, have really suffered this year and have never done before.

      • That suggests it’s a certain allergen at work – the main ones are tree pollen and grass pollen and I think I’m allergic mainly to one but not so much the other.

  2. The feeling from my friend, the rcehorse trainer, was that the strange weather patterns mean we’ve got both at the same time. I think that’s what a vet told him.

  3. I have a friend who grew up on a farm, no problems with hayfever until she moved away from the farm into a town. Apparently this is not uncommon, and you moving from rural Suffolk to London could have triggered it all
