Vodafone Waste Their Money
In the Evening Standard tonight amongst the reports of the riots was a Vodafone advert with the headline Free iPhone4 for summer.
Hasn’t anybody who wants one, nicked it by now?
The phone might be free, but you have to pay forty pounds a month to use it.
Ken Calls For Water Cannon
Ken Livingstone has called for water cannon to control rioters. How very progressive!
If This Man is a Preacher, I’m a Zebra
I’ve read about quite a few child abuse and mad religious cases, but this surely is the worst I’ve ever seen.
Warren Jeffs reputedly had seventy-nine wives. That sounds like seventy-nine too many for their sake!
I would feel that nearly every good Christian, Jew, Muslim, Humanist, Hindu, Sikh or Athiest, feels that if someone needs to be locked up as a menace to women and children, it is Warren Jeffs.
Sandwiches, Juice and a Bottle of Wine
As you can see, all are neatly stowed in my new bag.
It really is proving a good buy. As are the Marks and Spencer Gluten free sandwiches.
The Cambridge Busway at Cambridge Station
I went to Cambridge on my way to football at Ipswich yesterday. The infamous Cambridge Busway is now open.
As you can see from the pictures, there would appear to be a lot of work to do, to make the walking experience between the trains and the buses a lot easier.
Let’s Get Scientifically Correct About These Riots
Everybody is making all sorts of statements about the riots. Many of them are based on idle speculation or entrenched views and quite a few are racist.
We need to have scientifically correct facts.
Let’s start with a database of all the arrests, where suspects are listed. Perhaps a database could contain the following data for each arrest.
- Sex
- Age Range – say 15-24, 25-34 etc.
- Ethnicity
- Education Level
- Suspected Crime
- Post Code of Crime
- Employment Status
- Relationship Status
- Housing Status
- Distance between Crime and Place of Abode
Only when we properly analyse data like this can we make appropriate judgements.
If you think this is all very cloud-cuckoo thinking, I know that the Metropolitan Police have analysed all vehicles stops, where the vehicle was missing one of excise duty, insurance or MOT. The results were interesting and have been used to modify police methods to cut crime.
