Returning from Bruce Castle

I didn’t come back by train, but took a 243 bus direct to Dalston Junction station.

A Well-Appointed Bus Stop at Bruce Castle

As you can see, the bus stop by the museum was well appointed.

The buses are so much easier than the trains.  And also the climb up the stairs is optional and only is used to get a better view from the front.

  1. Can’t fully agree over the buses being much easier. Buses are generally much slower unless you’re cutting the corner taking a direct bus where you need to change trains otherwise. Also, chances to face an anti-social behaviour are much higher on a bus than on a train.

Still, you’re right about the bus infrastructure being so important for the area because buses are also cheaper and have a cap on daily expenses (after certain number of rides the next ones taken on the same day are free). Surprisingly many people in Tottenham just don’t go anywhere else apart from maybe Wood Green also because it is expensive.

    • I meant the buses were easier in this case, as it avoided a walk to the train and then catching a bus. In this instance, the buses are about every ten minutes, but the trains for Bruce Grove are far less frequent. I’d also pefer to be sitting on a bus, rather than sitting in a station waiting for a train.

It’s all about managing your time.

My son rarely uses buses or the Overground, as he’s a tube man. I like to look out, so it’s either a proper train or the top of a bus for me. I would cycle, but I haven’t the confidence yet! I haven’t got a helmet either, but they’re only for wimps. So I’d better get one.

  2. There is no need to apologise. You should go to Bruce Castle Museum.

  3. Can I join in . . . Buses in Brisbane Oz have a lot of dedicated Busways and many connected Railways.

Nearly all Rail & Bus / Rail Stations have Lifts {right across the suburban network.
All Inner City have Lifts / Escalators . . .

This is the Best of Both worlds, and when linked Bus / River Cat {Fast Modern River Ferries} plenty of scenic & intertesting Travel.

    • This line is one of the worst in London for access. Except for trains, track and signalling it has seen little investment since the Second World War.

All london’s buses have full disabled access and are buggy friendly for mothers with infants.
