Are The Welsh Preparing to Invade?

Dai Greene yesterday won the 400 metres hurdles in Daegu.

With a name like Dai, he has to be Welsh and of course is.

So when the his event takes place at Stratford over the 3rd to the 6th of August next year, will there be a shortage of leeks and daffodils in London?

The big question is where are they going to park the dragon? The problem is that East London and the Olympic Park in particular, has lots of rivers, canals and water in general.  So will this put the fire out? Or do dragons have waterproof fire?

  1. The average dragon breaths fire at a temperature which can evaporate large volumes of water, it’s one of the reasons we dont encourage them above ground (there’s a reason you dont see them flying about the place), were they to roam freely the UK would be suffering major water shortages. Although this would be a fine time to celebrate, due to public safety issues, I am afraid to say that no dragons will be released into London to celebrate Dai’s gold medal.

    • I do suspect that those few days might belong to Wales, as it looks like he is their best bet for a gold medal. As the Welsh are used to a bit of rain, then you could always take over Victoria Park, which is close to the Olympic site.

Incidentally, London’s original water supply, the New River, which celerates it’s quadcentenary just after the Olympics, was built by a Welshman, Hugh Myddelton, so it might have been designed to be dragon proof.

  2. Dai is also a Chinese girl’s name (I drove one to Stansted Airport recently and pointed out the Olympic site). I wonder how many people know the main difference between a Chinese dragon and a Welsh dragon.
