Simon Calder’s Holiday Advice
I like Simon Calder and he gave some interesting holiday advice on BBC Breakfast this morning, when asked about the shortage of package holidays. He suggested having a few days in London, where hotel prices are cheap and many of the best attractions are free.
In fact on the 38 bus last night, I met a father and son spending a couple of days in London.
So perhaps, Simon is only stating what is happening.
when our girls were in their teens we spent a week in London, and had a wonderful time and didnt spend much. We visited free places, then as in those days many of the museums charged until 4.00 p.m. we would arrive at a different one each day and have quick look, if they wanted to see more, we would come back in the morning and pay the fee.

They’re virtually all free now.
If you want to see the Olympic site, you can go to John Lews and look down it for a small donation to local charities.
Don’t do the Eye. Just get an Oyster Card and do the cable-car at £3.20 for adults and I think half that for kids.
