The Department Of Work And Pensions Doesn’t Believe In Speed
I was sixty-five on the sixteenth of August and still haven’t had a sniff of a pension, despite several phone calls and a few letters.
I’m not someone who is in desperate need of the money, but surely if I was, it would be causing me great difficulties.
After all, it’s not if my pension age sneaked up on them and they’ve had my details since I started getting winter fuel payments a couple of years ago.
It’s a complete disgrace!
I agree, most of these benefit payments take ages to sort out before you get paid. And as you say, this isnt a problem for you, but for many people it is really a struggle.

Actually, they have had 65 years to prepare. Like you I was born in the peak after WWII, and at every stage that peak has been used as an excuse to explain why there are delays in processing. It started when I went to school where they we unprepared for the influx. They had had 5 years to prepare, and at each stage more time, and experience of previous problems. Eb=ven after 65 years they haven’t got it sorted. Government departments never seem to learn.
