A Cruise To The Isle Of Wight
Until yesterday, I’d never been to the Isle of Wight.
I took the train from Waterloo to Portsmouth Harbour station, from where I walked to the catamaran for Ryde.
The pictures were taken on the way over.
The ferry was fairly busy with passengers. Unfortunately, you don’t seem to be able to get into the fresh air.
The fort incidentally, is one of the Palmerston Forts.

Liz and I go there on a reasonably regular basis as we have friends who live in Bembridge. imho it’s a much underrated place, good pubs, excellent walks and interesting attractions. Hope you had a good time. The new Mary Rose Museum is worth a visit if you have time in Portsmouth. Went there last w/e.

The trip cost me just fifty quid and that included First Class bought on the day from a machine.
I have seen the Mary Rose and this post talks about it.

You must have got a “ticket to Ryde”. The last time I went there was when I was 11, more than half a century ago. It probably hasn’t changed much. I must go back sometime to fInd out. Maybe I will go in my Triumph Stag or, to be really scary, in my Heinkel bubble car.
