A Residential Development Convenient For Rugby And Train Travel
I went through Twickenham station yesterday and took these pictures.
Surely many more stations could sustain a substantial development of much-needed housing on the top.

What this blog will eventually be about I do not know.
But it will be about how I’m coping with the loss of my wife and son to cancer in recent years and how I manage with being a coeliac and recovering from a stroke. It will be about travel, sport, engineering, food, art, computers, large projects and London, that are some of the passions that fill my life.
And hopefully, it will get rid of the lonely times, from which I still suffer.
Why Anonymous? That’s how you feel at times.
Great post 😊

One of tge failings of franchises is they are so short with just 5-7 years that private companies simply don’t have tge time or incentive to undertake schemes like this where planning and obtaining planning permission means that by the time they can go ahead they are nearing the end of their franchise.
That’s why it would be better for stations to be owned and controlled by bodies like London Mayor (TFL), Merseyrail etc where long term plans can be undertaken.
Development is also one way of making stations fully accessible with profits funding lifts / escalators at both station being developed with any profits funding upgrades at other stations.

Train operators are probably not that keen on developments like this, as if any delays or disruption happen because of the development, their ataff get any abuse and complaints. As you say developments like this should be guided by TfL, Merseyrail, Network Rail wtc working with local authorities
