Chorleywood Station – 27th August 2023

This Google Map shows Chorleywood station.

Note.

  1. There are two through platforms, which are electrified with the London Underground four-rail system.
  2. There appears to be a large car park.

These pictures show the station.

Note.

  1. Both through platforms are electrified.
  2. The old K8 phone box, which I mentioned in London Underground: Platform Phone Boxes Given Listed Status.
  3. The quality signal box
  4. The defibrillator.

The station could do with a bit of a refurbishment.

  1. You are correct in that there is a good size car park.

The station and track are on a slope, downhill to Rickmansworth.

When the A stock were in use, in the morning you could see a cloud of dust as an A stock approach from Chalfont and Latimer whilst braking on the descent for the station stop. The cloud of dust was brake dust which swept through the platform as the train came to a halt. And some days you could smell the burnt iron.

I commuted from here into London for a few years.
