And Now Recycled Cardboard is a Health Danger!
According to this report on the BBC, the ink in recycled cardboard used in food packaging is a health risk. I have a feeling too, that Nick Higham’s report was actually filmed not far from me. It was certainly somewhere in Hackney.
Apparently, the problem is the mineral oils in the ink.
I know it was years ago, but my father had terrible dermatitis because according to the doctor of all the solvents in printing ink.
Whilst on the subject of paper, I find difficulty reading a newspaper, as I find turning the pages difficult. I thought it was because of the stroke and lack of feeling in my hands, but others, who are young and fit also have the problem. I’ve been told it’s down to the amount of recycled paper used these days.
Not at all uncommon to be allergic to the printing inks.
I am sensitive to a chemical called colphony..thats in printing inks, glossy paper, mascara, lipsticks, brake shoes, rosin (for violin stings…and point shoes for ballet).
It can be a nightmare…as if I am unfortunate…my hands look as though I have been burnt…skin peels, red, and itchy so very itchy that nothing will calm it down.
Compared to other people…this isnt that bad…

Have you thought of trying to read the papers electronically? Ipad, Kindle? I have thought about it but haven’t tsken the plunge yet. We do the Sudou and KenKen in The Times everyday and photocopy it to 141% as hands and eys not so good at our age at 10:00 p.m. I guess we could print it out from an electronic device.

I have problems with my hands after an accident, and I bought an i-Pad last week – the original is reduced in the Apple shop because the new one is due out in a couple of weeks. There was no features on the new one which interested me, so I saved a lot of money and got the old one. I am delighted with it, it fits in my handbag, I use an app which looks and acts like Word only better for word processing – I used it to take notes at a meeting yesterday and it was fantastic. in landscape the touchscreen keyboard is almost as big as on a normal one. I couldnt manage the Kindle tiny keys.
