The Final Insult From Germany

The only thing, I consumed on the train was water, Coke and an orange juice in the morning. But others were luckier!

The Final Insult From Germany

The muffin could have been nice. The notes say the following.

Contains colouring. Contains antioxidant. Contains preservatives. With presevative, curing salt. Contains sweetener. Contains caffeine.

Nothing at all is said about gluten.

I suppose gluten is compulsory in Germany!

  1. Hey, I’ve stayed for a long time in Germany. Essen, to be precisely. And there’s one rule: Never ever eat something from the DB (Deutsche Bahn). It’s expensive and bad. You made a good choice. And yes, gluten is compulsory in Germany. You have to spend a lot of money to find gluten-free products. However, in which cities have you been so far?

    • I had no problem in good hotels in Berlin and Munich. But where are the little supermarkets, that sell nice salads and snacks?

      • I’m a vegetarian and it’s also hard for me to find suitable food. Sometimes the turkish Döner shops offer nice salads and wraps, e. g. Falafel, but Germany doesn’t have shops like “Mark & Spencer’s” in the UK.

  2. I find it strange that there didn’t seem to be any small food shops. After all you see them all over France, Italy, The Netherlands and Belgium. Do you always have to drive to a supermarket in Germany?

  3. When you know where you have to search, you can find great food shops with “alternative” products, especially in cities like Berlin or Hamburg. Gosh, I love “Pret-a-manger” or a similar shop in Germany.
